Hello Fellow Snake-Obsessed People!

My name is Lena. :grinning: I have been lurking in the MorphMarket community for months. I am incredibly shy so it took me a while to feel comfortable introducing myself. Genetics have always fascinated me, but due to a neurological condition I was born with I assumed I wouldn’t be able to work in a genetics-focused field. My first real introduction to snakes, and their immense genetic variety, was watching Snake Discovery sometime in late 2018 or early 2019. It was a passing interest until they unboxed their reverse okeetee scaleless Sunnyside Up. I immediately knew I wanted to get into breeding corn snakes at some point. So, about 5 years later, I purchased Gardenia, and waited anxiously for her to ship. However, I also had been looking at corn snake classifieds on Kijiji for about a year - more as a form of entertainment rather then with any intention to buy anything. About two days after I purchased Gardenia an ad for Polaris, a reverse okeetee scaleless, popped up and I knew I had to buy him too. A sweet family member and I drove five hours to go pick him up and brought him home before Gardenia was able to be shipped. Thus, while I bought Gardenia first, I consider her and Polaris as my first snakes. They have been little darlings ever since. :hearts: I am still definitely learning and am very thankful for the wealth of knowledge I have found within this community. Despite never having communicated directly, I thank you very much for all the information you have taught me!

Now I have six corn snakes from a variety of lovely breeders here in Canada:
Gardenia (Female - Anery scaleless het amel):

Polaris (Male - Reverse okeetee scaleless 50% het lavender):

Aurora (Female - Butter motley het hypo 66% het anery and 50% het scaleless):

Cattleya (Female - Palmetto 50% het anery, amel, and motley):
Thank you to those in the corn snake section of the community. The information I got from reading your posts helped break Cattleya’s three month hunger strike. She is now one of my best eaters!

Buttercup (Female - Butter scaleless 66% het motley and 50% het hypo):

Virgil (Male - Amel Scaleless het caramel and motley):
He is a very recent addition, so I don’t have any photos of him. Maybe I’ll take a photo of him later and put it in the comments. So far, though, he has been a little angel. We’ll see if that continues as he settles in.

Welcome! Gorgeous group. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Scaleiess Butter.

Thank you! Butter scaleless is definitely a beautiful morph. It’s hard to see it in the photo but she has some beautiful pale yellows in her saddles. I am very curious to see whether she’ll keep them as she grows.

Yeah, she’s fantastic.

I am hoping you will be a successful corn breeder! Anything you want to know you will find here so don’t hesitate to ask anything! You have got some incredible animals to start with!!! :snake::smiling_face_with_three_hearts::blush:

Thank you! They have brought me a lot of joy, and watching them grow has been truly fascinating.

Reading all of the posts under the corn snake category is what gave me the courage to post an introduction. Forums often have harsh people in them who criticize every little mistake, but you all seemed so nice, and were willing to help people who asked questions without judgement. Previously, I felt like I had to be an expert before I posted, and I am very happy to say that is no longer the case.

@theslitheringgarden WELCOME! We are so glad you’re here! What a gorgeous collection you have!

I’ll confess Buttercup is my favorite of yours. I have a Buttercup, myself, but she’s stripe instead of scaleless. I’m a sucker for white and yellow

Supposedly FB and Reddit are notorious for that type of behavior but I don’t have anything to do with either. I’m in my 7th year here and trust me this MMC is monitored closely so that people are not bullied. There is a tremendous amount of expertise and serious caring to be tapped into here so please do take advantage of it. And no earnest question is a dumb question.

A striped version sounds like it would be absolutely gorgeous! I love seeing how different pattern morphs changes the concentration of colors in the snake. When I got Gardenia and Polaris I didn’t care much at all about the pattern morphs, but when I got Aurora I fell in love with them.

Yes, I went to Reddit before I knew of the MorphMarket community and I will absolutely not be going back! I wish more people knew this community existed.

Thank you for sharing! All of your corns are gorgeous, but man, does Gardenia make my eyes pop!

She is a beauty. Depending on the lighting she can look grey, blue, or ever-so-slightly purple. Sometimes there even seems to be some pinks around her upper third. When I got her I was mainly focused on her amel het, but I have definitely fallen in love with the anery scaleless look because of her. Whenever I show my little group to people she is the general favorite because of her varying appearance. I am probably going to get her an anery boyfriend sometime soon because none of my males have the capacity to create anery scaleless hatchlings and her babies would just be too gorgeous.

She really is a stunner! Maybe it’s the settings on my monitor, but I feel like I can see some subtle pinks on her for sure. I’ve never seen an anery scaleless before either, so I can’t say I’m disappointed in tthe slightest!

If you get her a scaleless amel het anery boyfriend, you could make some scaleless snows in addition to anerys AND amels!

I have definitely thought of that, scaleless snows are so cute. :hearts: There doesn’t seem to be much demand for them where I live though, and while I would love to keep all the hatchlings, I can’t, and I don’t want to have a a bunch of adorable scaleless snow babies waiting ages to find good homes. Honestly, I don’t know why they aren’t more popular, I think they are absolutely eye-catching.

WOW! Those are some gorgeous corns!! Best of luck with breeding, and welcome to the forum!

For sure reach out to @solarserpents. She produced some amazing anery scaleless babies last year that were stunning. And you’ll get a good, healthy snake from her. She definitely knows her stuff. Not sure if she’ll be producing any this year, but it’s worth asking.

Now you’re hooked! The only hard part now is to eventually decide you have enough morphs and can stop buying more snakes

I will definitely have to one day, but shipping snakes from the USA to Canada is triples the cost of shipping, so that will probably be a couple years away.
