A pet store has this male for sale. It’s advertised as a hybrid between a Jungle jag, and Bredli. Wouldn’t the Bredli make it reddish? Looks like normal jungle to me…..doesn’t look like it got the jag gene, except it does have the silver eyes. Any thoughts?
This looks like the Jungle x bredli I have seen in the past. The red of the bredli does not really carry over. I pinged a friend that has extensive experience with this specific cross and he said he will try and hop over to check and confirm/deny
Those eyes are gold, not silver. Definitely not a Jag
This has the look of a lot of bredli x carpet hybrids. Carpet genetics tend to turn all hatchling orange coloration brown or khaki with age and bredli genetics just give them more orange to do that to. You don’t really see high orange in bredli hybrids until they are very high % bredli or you have a gene like albino that take away the melanin that is covering the orange pigments.
Bredli pattern genetics dominate most carpet pattern genetics though so most ~50% bredli hybrids will have a very bredli-like pattern with a dark carpet-like color palette
Thanks for the help. Likely pass then, not really what I’m after if it’ll be dark and not the popping bright yellows or reds - but they seem a lot harder to get up this way then I remember
Are the gold eyes from the Bredl? I thought Jag got the nice silver eyes, and non jags all had normal brown/black ones. I’ve seen new hypo with silverish eyes, but not sure if that changes as matures

And, importantly, it maintains that cleaner look into adulthood whereas adult non-Jag carpets will develop darker eyes, especially after their ontogenetic colour change
