Hello, any help identifying my first snake would be greatly appreciated. Was sold to me as a banana ball python, I have no info on the sir or dam unfortunately. Being new to snakes I don’t know if its just a plain banana or some kind of morph. He’s around 3 months old, ive had it for about 2 weeks. I’ve already transitioned him to f/t hopper mice. He is 17" and weighs 72g. Woukd apprentice any feedback. Thank you!
He’s a banana pastel! Banana is a morph in and of itself, and so is pastel, so he’s a combination morph - banana pastel. Both of these are incomplete dominant genes with homozygous “super” forms but he doesn’t appear to have either super form in my opinion.
First thing, welcome to the forum! Second, congratulations on a really pretty ball python find! Third, kudos to you for it being your 1st snake, not to mention that you have had it only 2 weeks, it’s already eating for you, and you have also switched it to FT!!! And it’s a ball python!!! That’s incredible!
Thanks you! This little guy has been amazing, I definitely got lucky with him. He’s such a sweetheart and has been a champ. Swapped him over to fuzzy rats as i read they are more nutritional for ball python and hasn’t skipped a beat. He has definitely made my life easier, couldn’t have asked for a better first snake.
I am curious. Did you get your ball python from a pet shop or did he come straight from a breeder? If he came from a breeder it’s best not to mention the name due to the community guidelines. I am just curious since he is doing so well for you!
Keep us posted on his progress and post pictures anytime!
I got him from a reptile store hence the lack of information giving to me, got a little hesitant because of that and the fact that he was only feeding live but im glad I purchased him. Couldnt be happier. Here he is become more adventurous and acting silly
Awwwww! It looks like he’s super comfortable with you! Supposedly snakes don’t get attached to their humans like dogs and cats and such but I firmly believe in my old feeble brain that snakes have the capability of understanding who is a threat to them and who is not. Your sweet handsome boy has figured out that instead of being a threat you are a playground!
It’s so great to read about a success! Don’t be a stranger @snaketammer28! Btw, what’s his name?
Thank you! Yea definitely getting comfortable. Although its my first snake I do have a bearded dragon amongst other animals and definitely something there lol. His name is Hunter.
Ah well Hunter is living up to his name! You look happy and that puts a smile on my face and in my heart snaketamer! If you ever need anything there are plenty of experienced people here who will be more than willing and able to help you out!
