hi, my snake just shed last night and he’s got this weird patch of scales. can anyone help identify what this could possibly be.
The spots look like a couple of small indentations. Do you feed live or frozen thawed?

Yeah we may need to know a bit more about your setup and such as well as Caron’s question on feeders.
How is the heat set up in the enclosure?
Is there anything sharp they could have rubbed on in there?
What are the temps and humidity like in there?

i feed live and he did get a few scratches with the last mouse, very minor though and i believe they were closer to his stomach rather than his neck. he only had a few scales lifted. he also just shed last night.
the heat is set up outside of his enclosure and it hangs about 2-3 inches above the lid. all his heat sources are also connected to thermostats. he does have a komodo resin turtle hideaway. humidity is usually around 50-60 but was around 75 these past few days cuz of his shed. his warm side sits around 87-90 and his cool side sits around 77-80
here’s a picture of it while he’s stretched out, it kind of looks like a bit of stuck shed to me but i wouldn’t really know cuz i haven’t encountered it.

So this does help a lot! It is mostly just stuck shed. So a little extra soak and maybe trying to let him slither through a wet towel after should help get it off.
To me, it looks like there might be a little scratch towards the end of the patch. That should heal up no problem with his next shed. But for any of the scratches if you see any seeping fluid or it starts swelling he may have gotten an infection and would need a vet.
Be careful with the komodo hide if he gets too big for it. You can run your finger over the edges of the hide and if anything feels too sharp you can try filing it down maybe. Like a bit of sandpaper or a nail file would probably work
