I got my ball python 2 weeks ago, and it’s 4 months old and weight 200g. She had one perfect shed after I got her, without any stuck shed. She has been feeding two meals (rats pup ~25g), good feeding response. But after she eats, she usually stays in cool side after every feeding. not sure why, I thought she would be in hot side for digestion purpose. In general, she spend most of her time in cool side. (Both hides are exact same)
she pooped twice and urinates.
humidity: 55-60%
cool side: 76-80F
warm side: 85-89F

Id your temps are accurately measured, you’ve given it a proper gradient. Let it do it’s thing. 80* isn’t too cool to cause problems. As long as it’s not regurgitating and it’s having bowel movements, don’t worry about it.

I’ve heard of this before. I agree with your temps look good and let it do its thing. Digestion itself generates heat, which aids in digestion. Ever hear of the “meat sweats” in humans? I thought I was just imagining it, but it is a legitimate thing.

Thank you! Yep, it’s werid that she quite in favor of cool side. Though she used hot side a few times just not that much. Previoulsy I even doubt my temp measure, but after testing multiple times a week, it’s pretty accurate and stable from 86-90(peak) in hot side. I used gun to measure bare surface temp.

Yes, I also heard that when digestion, their metabolism is up, which helps for digesting.

As the others have said, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. I have some that prefer to digest on the hot side, and some that prefer the cool side. It’s not always the most helpful answer, but sometimes the answer to why ball pythons do the things they is just
As long as they’re healthy, eating and growing, they’re welcome to be as weird as they like
