Need help I rescued this Burmese python and she has this and it’s getting a little worse.
You need to provide as much information as you can about her (where she came from, how she was kept and so on) so that others can try to help you analyze her situation. I know nothing about Burmese pythons in particular but there is definitely something going on with the animal.
Best of luck with her
I do not know anything about burms, but the look of the discoloration at least to me says you need to see a reptile vet ASAP for probable systemic infection/septicemia. If you don’t already have one, you may be able to find one via the ARAV search page: Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians
I’m not a Burm expert but I agree with @caron that you need to provide as much details as you can.
A vet visit is a must in this situation. This could be some sort of skin infection or septicemia.
This will show up a lot more on light colored snakes like your Burm here.
It looks like there might be some sort of scar or scab on the head and there looks to be some brown discoloration among the splotchy redness on top of the lower neck…
Is there anywhere else on the body that this redness is appearing besides the back and neck?
If this is getting worse and the discolored patches are growing in size this absolutely needs to have seen a vet yesterday.
I agree with @noodlehaus this looks like it can be a systemic infection. Once it manifests at this level the only treatment that will be effective is an antibiotic regimen.
Any and all information you can give the vet is important. If they recommend a culture to ID the cause I would do this as they will be able to find out what medication will work best.
In my opinion- septicemia. Maybe from the rat bite on her head. Get her to a vet asap. Keep her clean and hydrated. Pay close attention to environment and get to a vet.
Poor girl.
