Help, What's in her chin

Pic taken from a successful shed

Looks like some healing rub sores or scale rot. Keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn’t worsen or become red and swell.

So right now, her chin is irritated from rubbing.

As far as to why it looks like that…
There’s A LOT of people saying that this is because of tub rub or infection…but there are many healthy ball pythons I have seen with these little almost heat pit looking areas on the chin. As long as they don’t look dirty, scabbed or red in a day or two I wouldn’t worry.
I have a boy who ALWAYS has bad sheds so his chin looks like a mess … But other snakes I’ve owned with this are usually fine. Maybe a scab here and there after shed rubbing.

If it looks worse in a few days I would see a vet, but for now maybe a short soak so she can get that cleaned out and then some relaxing in her enclosure

I was thinking the same thing at first but looking at how uneven it is on the scales makes me concerned.

I have a few BPs that have marking on their chin but not holes…

I’m not at home at the moment so I can’t go through my own collection at the moment… But here’s a few quick google shots.
The snake with shark mouth doesn’t have the pitted look, but you can clearly see the indentations in the scales in the same area. It may be something residual from evolution maybe? Or a gland in that area…I never see anything concrete about it. The only time people really mention it is when the rub is irritating it.
But clearly it’s an identical area in all of these snakes. So something more structured than just ‘chin rub’ before it happens.
If you look at the fold where the jaw hinges they have a similar thing going on as well

Thats so strange, I’ll have to double check my collection and see if any of mine have this… I’ve never really seen much about this before.

Kinda gives me trypophobia a bit lol
