Help with humidity

I need help! I live in Louisiana and can’t get my leopard geckos humidity below 80%. I have water bowl on the cold side, fully screen tops, and a dehumidifier.

What kind of substrate are you using?

I’m assuming it’s a problem with the humidity outside of the enclosure. What’s the humidity of the area around it? Is the enclosure kept in a closed room, open area, etc?

Ceramic heat emitters are great at reducing humidity, though you may need to turn your other heat source down or off if you use one.

it’s in my bedroom, outside of the tank is 60-70… Louisiana humidity averages 95% outdoors @erie-herps

good idea @7snakes

75% topsoil 25% sand @reptilelover0456

It’s hard to keep the humidity lower inside the tank and it would be best if you could lower the room humidity. Keeping the door closed with the dehumidifier should help. A CHE or heat bulb would also be very effective (that would work best). Changing the substrate would help lower humidity. Loose substrate (unless it’s compacted) isn’t recommended due to the impaction risk. If you changed it to paper towels, towel, or slate it would also help decrease humidity.

I’ve been to Louisiana and it is very humid, So maybe try a heat bulb or change substrate. Maybe to paper towel or something like excavator clay
