Hi! We got this Kenyan in 2019 and was told at the expo we got it at that it was a male which is what we were looking for. It is now about 19 inches long and weighs 147grams which should indicate a male. However I’m now thinking it may be female do to the tail. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for that. Any idea why the size would seem to be so far off for a female of that age? It always seemed to eat well although I was following recommendations for a male…
either its a slow-growing or exceptionally small female, you could have been told the right sex hard to tell for certain from the tail. possibly when you get the chance send pictures of the full snake/ feeding schedules while 147 grams is on the smaller side it could be a small female.
So I’m going to call her a she here. She looks nice and healthy to me. However I think you can space her meals out to every 2 weeks since she’s an adult and again perfectly healthy, just the way she is. She is just on the smaller size.
Thanks everyone! We had wanted a male because we wanted a smaller snake so still happy that she’s a female and small lol also glade that she appears healthy, I was worried that she was small because I hadn’t been feeding enough, glad to hear that’s not the case and that I can actually cut back.
