How come when browsing through the for sale Ball Pythons I can filter on the Trait “High Intensity Orange Dream” but in the Morphepedia there is no Trait called “High Intensity Orange Dream”? It’s like one place it’s recognized as a Trait and the other it’s not.

So is it a Trait or a Proven Line? You can’t have it as a stand alone Trait in one place and merely as a Proven Line in another.

Trait as it pertains to searching for animals is not necessarily synonymous with morph/gene. We have “traits” for pet only, localities, hybrids, etc.

It’s under debate at the moment on if it’s a separate gene or not. Right now we know that it is compatible with Orange Dream. I think it’s still being tested with RGI to find out the details. It’s similar enough that we can’t really know yet. But breeders are saying that the difference in hatchlings carrying OD vs HIOD is obvious. Though that’s also happened before with the same gene.
IIRC…a couple traits are going to need updating too from new RGI discovery. Like Black Axanthic being the same as TSK.
