The male accepted his 4th meal and digested it nicely, whereas the female ate, but the next day the food was regurgitated. Now a 10-day break and we will try again with half a newborn.

I’m sorry that the female regurged. It’s right and good to give her a break to heal. Do you have an idea what might have happened to cause it? Is she in shed, maybe?

I’m about 90% suspecting that I gave a slightly larger pinky to the female compared to the male, but the young one is behaving normally and moving between zones, so I think everything should go back to normal at the next attempt.

It’s good that she is behaving normally. You’re obviously paying attention to your lovely new little ones. Odds are that she will do just fine.

By the way, my wife named the male Gucio, and the female are named after characters from the cartoon Maya the Bee

Currently, I have 1 male and 1 female in this morph. If everything goes well, I expect to see little dumplings in 3 years.

I think your theory might be very spot on because Maya just shed her skin, and you couldn’t tell at all that she was going into a shed cycle. I actually had a similar situation with my beautiful bloodred in the past, and today both of them shed their skin together! I will give them a moment to rest and an update will follow once they catch their breath a bit.
Edit: The shed came off completely in one single piece.

Excellent! Always good to have a clean, complete shed. Also very good to have an idea why a snake might regurge. It can be hard to tell on light morphs if they’re in shed at certain parts of the cycle. Many eat and digest just fine in shed, but I’ve got a few who don’t. Some will refuse when in shed but there are others who will eat with gusto… then regurge.

I didn’t realize shedding and regurges could go hand in hand, but it makes sense now that you say it. Looks like you have good odds for your girl to digest well next time! Can’t wait to see their little dumplings in 3ish years!!!

Me neither! I can’t wait either, and I know those 3 years are gonna fly by. Fingers crossed I get super lucky and hit that double het for Lavender seeing patternless purple-honey dumplings hatch out is the absolute dream!

Maya just got her half of a pinky, fingers crossed she digests it well! Gucio is currently in shed. So far he’s got 2 digested meals and a shed under his belt.
I’ll post a post-shed update on Gucio in a few days. Holding off a bit with Maya until she gets into a steady feeding rhythm.
Edit:No regurgitation, so everything is back to normal with the princess
