Hovabator 2370 with VE 2000?

Hi - new BP breeder here, been struggling a bit to find info on this. I have a new Hovabator 2370 that I intended to run on a VE 2000 thermostat. First problem is that the casing on the fan and heating unit is so deep it actually rests on top of a 6qt sterilite shoebox.

This makes the box lid very hot, and I worry about the fan vibration shaking the box and affecting the eggs. I can switch to a shorter deli style container, provided my eggs fit I guess?

Also the 2370 is factory set at 100f. It can only be adjusted 5 degrees in either direction. To get down to 88-89 I was using the VE 2000 on pulse, but it makes the hovabator readout go nuts as it cycles the fan off and on repeatedly.

I can turn off the hovabator fan, but should I?
I can run the VE 2000 on dimming instead instead of pulsing, but should I?
I can add a ring of polystyrene to make the interior of the hovabator taller; but (you guessed it) should I?

Any help is appreciated; I love to know what others have done!!

The big question I have is, do you have eggs now? I’m hoping not

Can you fit the egg box in of you take out the bottom grates? You don’t need a water channel because the egg box should maintain its own humidity.

As far as the thermostat questions… I don’t know if dimming in this instance would reliably affect the problem with the fan. You can still run it without, but I would make sure that your temp probe for the thermostat is inside the egg box to avoid any potential for them to get too hot.

No eggs yet fortunately! I did find some shorter boxes at Walmart so that solved the height problem. I just don’t like the fan stuttering off and on so much with the thermostat - seems like it might burn out or start a fire
