I need to win an argument on Discord. I say 3000+ (Is right) and they say 4000+ (technically also right for all species to have ever existed)
I say species are always getting discovered, they are still arguing with me despite me clearly having more knowledge in Snakes then the members of the server.
They also claim that snakes are aggressive and not believing me when I say they only attack (not really the correct word) when provoked
Update it is over since I made the smart decision to stop responding
Every snake? One snake? Most snakes (and how many exactly is ‘most’)? What does ‘aggressive’ mean, precisely (is it a behavior, a state of mind, or something else)? The reason some disputes are tough to win is because the terms of the dispute are not at all clear.
The number of snakes changes constantly not only because new species are being discovered but because existing species are split or lumped. You’d have to specify a time and date at which the count is pegged.
If you’re trying to win the argument to show how smart you are (with the info that I tracked down, mind you), I’m not sure that’s all that laudable. Something to think about.
So I am wondering why you would even literally waste your time arguing with a group of people in a group called “discord”? Indeed an argument you will never win?
I never wanted it, they started it after I got controversially political. They never stopped, I did by leaving the initial server. Then they started it in another server I’m in.
Indeed. I’m a little sad that now I have to worry that sharing reptile trivia might implicate me in online abuse on some other site.
I think fundamentally unimportant discussions like how many snakes are can be fun just because the discussion is about snakes; discussions that are unimportant but that are basically about trashing people aren’t fun (shouldn’t be, anyway) nor are they anything else good.
