How often should i feed my snake?

hi there, just wondering how often i should feed my snake?

he’s a bp, maybe just over 1 year old (the guy we got him from never replied back about when his birthday is), and he’s currently 619g.

i’m currently feeding him a medium weened rat every 10 days.

a few things i’ve read said i should still feed him every 7 days at this weight or up until he’s 2 ?

I usually recommend about every 14 days until they’re 2 years, then every 3 weeks, and then about once a month once they’re 3 years

I agree with @autumngeckos.
I’ve got my collection on a 14 day schedule. With the exception my female’s stay at a 14 day schedule.
Adult males get a medium rat on a three week schedule.

As the snake gets bigger, the prey size increases, so does the days between feeding.
I have to add , hatchlings up to around a year commonly are on a 7 day schedule.

so should i bring him back to feeding every 7 days? if so how long do i keep him on that schedule? (when should i increase the days)

we reckon he is around 1 year 1 month, when we got him the seller reckoned he was around 8/9 ish months i think, we picked him up on the 9th of july

we’ve had him just over 4 months

sounds reasonable! there’s so much different opinions/information about how often/much you should feed them at different weights and years :sob: this is my very first snake/reptile, still trying to get to grips understanding the age, weight, and feeding stuff

The way I knew when to increase the days between feedings is when the snake’s refuse to eat for no apparent reason, such as shed cycle. In my case I had multiple snakes refuse. That’s when I increased the days between feeding because I figured they were not hungry enough to eat yet.

I think the 10 day schedule is fine. If he’s feeding and not passing meals, stay with that until you need to increase prey size.

We would love to see pictures of your boy .

Agreed with @buckeyeballs If your snake refuses its meal for no good reason then it’s probably time to increase the days between meals……
