How to Choose Crestie Breeding Stock

May I ask why Dalmatian spotting is not desirable? Does it come with health concerns or does it too heavily influence other colour/pattern traits?

there are no concerns besides it being hard to sell them. they are considered lower quality then paternless dalmatians and are not sought after.

No health issues. I adore spots in super dals etc and even phantom Lilly dals! I’m other trait I’ll work out if I need to and the Crestie is that nice!

But an extreme tricolour with spots is worth less than one that’s clean, and also less desirable as people want them spot free

Ahh, I see. I am currently reading my way through Little Monsters foundation genetics info so this is all making more sense. I was, until today, someone who thought most crestie genetics were polymorphic so definitely a school day today! Thank you.

It’s definitely a game changer. Still makes my head spin when I read it

Just think, one day we might have a genetics calculator that’s accurate!

I am one of those people that doesn’t want spots on my geckos, unless patternless. I just feel that there’s too much going on when you have a patterned dalmatian.

That being said I do own a few patterned Dal spot /dalmatians and I love them regardless.
