I got plants!

Now time for some nice tankmates! My dad was thinking a betta, what are your suggestions? It’s a 10 gal with about 10 neos in it :slight_smile:

A Betta would be too risky, they are known to kill Shrimp. There is a possibility for that to not happen but I’m sure you wouldn’t want to risk your shrimp being eaten.

I have Neon Tetras and Guppies with mine, if you don’t want to deal with Guppy breeding I reccomend the former.

Edit: keep in mind it also depends on the size of the aquarium! Most fish can’t realistically or humanely be kept in anything smaller than a 10gal

I love bettas. They’re neat little fish that can get really friendly with you. You may have to keep an eye on them though. Some do great with shrimp, others will chase and attack them.

I had some good luck with glo-danios, zebra danios or white cloud mountain minnows with shrimp for a bit. They’re more fond of keeping each other busy than bugging the crustaceans.

Celestial pearl danios or chili rasboras! They’ll only be able to eat the tiniest of shrimp babies and not bug the adults.

I LOVE Celestial pearls … I just had very bad luck with getting those little dude to thrive. I think mine may have just been an unhealthy lot from the local shop. ;n;

But yes. I would second a healthy little school of those guys
