This is going to sound mean, but I bring this up because I want the best for you and your critters
The market is super saturated at the moment. The genes in your girl are not worth much. She can throw normals as well. It may be very difficult to move offspring once they are hatched. Will you be able to house these little guys individually and keep them properly fed?
Do you have the money available and a reptile vet nearby in case of an emergency or a hatchling needing to be culled? I lost a male during breeding season with a colon infection. The breeding stress lowered his immune system. Multiple people have posted here with females who have had eggbinding. I’ve had to put down hatchlings because they had deformities that were incompatible with life even though they pipped on their own.
Will you know enough about the genetics to tell them apart in the offspring? I assume you do know the genes in your lemonblast? Do you know anything about the parents? If this is a big box shop animal I generally do not recommend breeding them at all because they are usually just bred en mass or are poor results of breeding for better combos.
…
If you got through that and can still say let’s go!
Look at the market. Put her genetics into the calculator and see what combos you like. Find a male with the genes you’re missing in that combo and there you go. Breed for what YOU want. Don’t breed for something that you don’t really like but someone suggested.
That said… I personally like the look of pinstripes in hypos and desert ghosts. Both of them are recessives so you won’t see them in the offspring, but you can get a visual male to pass the gene to all the offspring and make sure there’s at least one gene in every offspring.
Thank you I appreciate your comment
Or are b-grade (or lower) animals overall, or have something wrong with them regarding breeding potential that wouldn’t necessarily affect their life as a pet. These are the sorts of considerations that hobby breeders use to figure out which animals to wholesale.
Thanks for your comment
That’s not this one?
PetCo is absolutely a big box store. As is PetSmart and PetLand. There’s a few other big chains but those 3 are the ones I have the most experience with.
