Identification help

We are fledgling ball Python breeders, but have a couple of boas as well. Both were bought as jungle hypos, and it never really mattered as we didn’t have any breeding plans (still don’t really), but last night I finally decided to look at them closer. She definitely looks like a jungle hypo, however, he looks more like a key west jungle hypo. What say you?

Also noticed her head has a much more pronounced triangle shape than his. She is younger, but has passed him in weight, but he has stayed slightly longer. Do those two features have more to do with their locale?

These are older pics, and can get more if needed.

Thanks ahead of time.

Can’t really help with morph ID beyond to say that they both appear hypo jungle to me. Honestly couldn’t say if one has Key West, that’s just not a morph I’m super familiar with. I will say that jungle can be extremely variable in expression, so two jungles can have vastly different patterns without any other genes being involved. Not sure if that’s the case here, though.

In terms of the difference in head shape and body type, that could absolutely be down to differences in localities and bloodlines. Most BIs are a hodge-podge of different localities, so it’s not uncommon for there to be some variability in that stuff.

Beautiful boas!

Thank you!

From my reading, and comparing on MM, Key West is similar to Roswell Laddertail in appearance, in that they bring that blocky, ladder like look to the saddles/dorsal area. I don’t believe him to be RLT from the pictures of combos I’ve seen.

Now, the future thought is do we breed? Just to have a clutch for shows, something other than BP’s on the table. And have pricing in that $150-250 range.

I would say both are hypo for sure and could be possible jungles. I don’t think the male is a key west boa. I would say he might have Central American BCI in him. As he has 26 saddles to the vent and the over all look to him. She only has 18 saddles to the vent that falls in the BCC area. But all morph boas now are a mix of a lot of locality’s now. She is clean looking so it could be a Summit or Salmon hypo boa. Once she is around 20 LBS. I would breed her to see what you get. Maybe you will get lucky and both are het albino.

I have a new baby that has a similar look to your male. But he is a 25% Norther Brazilian BCC X 75% Colombian BCI. He is a hypo het albino. He won’t get his adult colors for a few years. Should get more tan looking later.
