Hi everyone, new member her. I have 3 snakes, 2 of which we know what they are, the 3rd is a mystery. Pastel something, unfortunately i cant unload the video since im new. Idk what else to do. Fb was no help.
We don’t need a video, but I would add a picture to the post. Otherwise we can’t be much help either
This is not very user friendly, bare with me.
Without knowing the parents it can be tough to really nail down what’s going on sometimes.
With that in mind…
A pastel with Cinnamon or Black Pastel is the main part of the guess.
The rest is where it gets iffy and harder to really say without the info or having the skin shed tested for things.
With what I’ve bred and have seen there’s a couple of possible genes I can think of as well.
The first is easy to shed test for. It would be het for Piebald.
The other two there are no tests for yet, but if this snake is actually het pied then either of the two genes can potentially cause the white pattern fade from an interaction between het pied and cinnamon or Blk pastel.
Those would be:
Calico/sugar- the more common of the two
Sandblast/panther- Panther is the UK line of sandblast. This one is less common, and some collections don’t know they have it.
There’s a few other genes that can also have interactions like that on the lower half, so if someone else has experience with those hopefully they can chime in too.
As an aside… Here’s one of my own hatchlings where you can see that pattern interference
Sandblast Cinnamon pastel het pied
Was told by previous owner, when the they purchased a RGI shed test all it said was pastel.
Not sure what test was done.
Should the 50+ shed test be performed on her next shed, or what test should be performed??
I doubt there would be a reason to really run a 50 panel test unless it’s for fun.
I wouldn’t recommend breeding since aside from a single pastel test it sounds like there’s really no known background on her? Rescues and re-home situations are generally looked down on for breeding because of the unknowns genetically and health wise.
I already said that a couple of genes do not have tests available for what I can possibly suggest as an ID.
Piebald, Black pastel, cinnamon and barnhart black pastel are ones you can test for.
I would guess Pastel Cinnamon Sugar. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if it was het for piebald as well.

@themorphranch
Lol that is one of the combos I mentioned as well, so glad someone also agrees.
