If you could only own one lizard, what would it be?

Im looking for other peoples opinions and experiences on lizards. Im looking for a pretty handable lizard, but I want to hear other peoples favorites!

I might be a bit biased but crested geckos for sure - They’re super versatile - they’re quite hardy and can do well in both big elaborate setups as well as relatively minimal setups, there are specialised diets on the market that they thrive on so they don’t need anything else (but it’s typically only a plus if you do give them other stuff), and they come in different sizes and tons of different morphs. Every individual differ but they’re often very tolerant of handling as well

I love my cresties and my leo’s. Both are handleable and pretty hardy. But my favorite to handle is my blue tongue skink. He is an adult, so he has good size, and is easy to handle, for me. You don’t have to worry about being delicate with him.

If I could only own one lizard, it would be a yellow headed monitor all the way.

But for you, I would say a blue tongue skink would be a good option!

Leopard geckos are very handleable! I’m definitely partial to them…they’re my fav reptile. Easy to care for, very inexpensive, and most are very good with handling!

Just one lizard? I might spring for a well socialized Jeweled Lacerta. They’re stunningly beautiful and can be very friendly if raised to it.

That, or a chuckwalla, or an enclosure of Emerald Tree skinks,

or if I could find any one or two Schneider’s Skinks which would do well in my desert climate.
