Incubator building

The Herpstat Intro+ ! This new version of the Herpstat Intro adds the safety relay that can cut power to the output circuit in the event of a solid state component failure. If you have a cage, incubator, or a plastic rack that uses two prong electrical cords for its heating device then the Herpstat Intro+ could be the perfect choice. The unique enclosure has flanged sides to allow a embedded mount for custom looking incubators. You can also sit it on top of your favorite cage. It’s budget friendly without sacrificing smooth proportional control of the temperatures. Has a built in soft startup feature to slowly add power on initial starts as well as a user selectable ramping between day and night time temperature settings. A new revolutionary auto power matching algorithm constantly adjusts the power output to get the best regulation possible. We also added new AC control code that lets the device dim power in 100 steps to be able to finely tune the heating equipment. High and low temperature tracking and audible alerts are standard. The Herpstat Intro comes ready use out of the box.

The Herpstat Intro comes with a temperature probe.

***** Now with upgraded steel tipped probe ! *****

Check out the User’s Manual for screen shots of the setup procedure.

Features:

·True proportional heating (Dimming Sytle).

·Built in Safety Relay on Herpstat Intro+ models to help protect against solid state failures causing “run away” heating

·Constantly monitors and adjusts amount of heat necessary to maintain a target temperature (Usable range from 40°F to 150°F or 4°C to 65°C). Can also be used in non-proportional (on / off) mode.

·Soft startup slowly applies power during initial warmups.

·User selectable temperature ramping allows day to night changes to occur slowly. (Up to 10 hours)

·Sensor Matching allows the user to digitally calibrate the sensor output to match other equipment.

·Software clock provides night drop feature.

·High / Low temperature tracking helps monitor heating system and enclosure efficiency.

·Selectable High / Low temperature threshold alarms.

·Precision sensor with internal resolution of .1125 °F and is accurate to ± .9 °F

·Display and setting in tenths of a degree.

·All settings are retained in memory even if power is lost.

·Power Outage detection / tracking.

·Temperature can be set / displayed in Fahrenheit or Celsius.

·Easy to read backlit LCD display.

·Removable 12’ temperature probe allow for easy replacement if necessary.

·Audible alarm system

·Internal error detection shuts off heat if sensor fails or is disconnected.

·350 Watts Output Power

·1 year limited warranty

good looking build. Just finished my first incubator build.

With my incubator, I just disconnected the power to the compressor so the fan and light would still function. I was able to thread the heat tape cord and thermostat probe through the drain hole in the back.

I’ve got two clutches in it right now, and both have been doing great so far:

1.0 banana yellowbelly x 0.1 pastel het vpi axanthic — on day 53 (babies gonna hatch soon!)

1.0 super mystic x 0.1 butter - on day 37

I just bought this same fridge to convert also. Did you drill a hole for the wires to go through? Where did you drill the hole? Also, could you use this for brumation also do you think, or just incubation? Thanks!

I’ll be honest in that I can’t take credit for our incubator. Our friend helped us convert a 114 bottle wine cooler, the heat cable wired behind the back panel keeps it looking clean. Internal fans in both red and white zones running, same with the LED lights, controlled by a Herpstat 1 (somewhere off to the side). It’s been solid at maintaining temps the last 4 seasons.

also… works well as a proofing box when you’re learning to bake during the pandemic :no_mouth:

:joy::joy: That’s brilliant.

@t_h_wyman this is a life hack I feel you would like :joy:
