Indiana Herping Trip

I’m in east central Indiana and have been out herping a few times the last month or so. I haven’t had any luck at all. I usually run across a little bit of everything. It’s been hot and dry so I know that is playing a part.

Any suggestions for these conditions? I’m not looking for any certain species just would like to run across something this trip. Thanks!

My best recommendation to find all sorts of reptiles is to find some source of water. A pond or lake would be perfect :sunglasses:. Besides that any place of cover and shade, where it might be cooler and damp. I hope that you find something amazing on your next trip out. What are your some of your best finds to date, and what do you hope to find?

My best finds we’re 8ft rat snakes around a barn a couple years back. Super aggressive. Felt like I was encountering black mambas lol. Found some cool looking garters too. I’d love to find some more garters. Seems like everyone I find looks a different shade. Beautiful snakes.
