That’s really neat looking! What’s the morph on this little one?

no idea, this is my first year. please let me know what you think it could be…
F: Vanilla + Acid + Pinstripe
M: OD + HiOD + Enchi + Pastel + Calico + Vanilla + YB + Asphalt

Well… At the very least your male has 2 allelic combos. So every baby automatically will hatch out with two genes:
hiOD or OD
YB or Asphalt.
Both of those can be difficult to ID without a shed test.

I could be wrong because I don’t work with it, but I’m thinking acid along with vanilla and enchi. On top of the HIOD/OD and YB/Asphalt.
I’m sure someone who’s better at IDs can come along and correct me if I’m wrong on it. Which I may be! But either way, that’s an awesome looking baby. hope the rest of the clutch is a neat mix as well!

I was not aware that OD and HiOD were allelic.?? I supposedly have a male S.OD + S.HiOD, and is going to be genetic tested as soon as they get HiOD figured out. ?? I missed something?

Here are the other 2 of that clutch, not as impressive…

According to the Morphpedia entry for Orange Dream, HiOD is just a variation on the OD gene and therefore it would mean that a single snake cannot be both.

we will know soon enough, RGI is working on it right now and I can’t wait since I have lots of both

The headstamp is incredible on that baby. It looks like another snake on it’s head with a fork tongue :stuck_out_tongue:. Really nice looking babies.

Congratulations on your new babies. What a neat headstamp! I lurk on ID threads for fun as I don’t work with BPs. Can’t offer anything useful but had to say that headstamp totally rocks.

This guess is just for fun as I am not good at IDing ball pythons but I am going to say OD, vanilla, enchi, acid, and either YB or asphalt.

But either way, that is an absolute amazing snake! And for your first year that is unbelievable! I love how the headstamp looks like another snake with a head stamp that looks like a snake. A snake head on a snake head on a snake head! lol

it still seems like people are still debating about whether the two are the same gene, allelic, or completely separate genes. My personal guess is either a variation of OD or allelic to OD

I think the prelim testing is that they’re allelic because you can’t have an offspring that inherits both. At least that’s what I’ve seen breeders report.

And as far as RGI goes, I think they had some interesting results but nothing conclusive enough yet to make a full announcement.

So no real answers on if it is a complex or what yet. But it seems to act as super/allelic if you have both.
