@caryl Can you help with this question?

Maybe. I am unfamiliar with shipping to Central America, though. I know that these folks do US, Canada, Europe, and Asia. I’ve worked with them to ship corns internationally for some of that. I am sure that if they don’t do it, they can refer you to someone who does, if it can be done.

I’m bogging down. Keep getting a 503 error. It looks like you should be able to get info here: https://www.reptileinternational.com/
I will contact Reptiles Express tomorrow because now I’m curious.

You’re going to need to check the laws in Nicaragua to see if importing corn snakes (or any other species you like) is legal. That’s the first step. If they’re allowed, I do see a couple of different companies who say they handle import of exotic pets into Nicaragua. You’d need to find out the associated fees from them. I know that if it’s like other countries, there will be import and customs fees, as well as fees for a veterinary exam. It’s not cheap, but it is usually in the hundreds, not the thousands. There may also be a discount if you import multiple animals.

@noodlehaus do you have insight into where to find this info for Nicaragua? Or who might know?

I tried to do some digging, but I’m not getting much useable information. What I found through the USDA’s informational page on Exporting Animals to Nicaragua was the following:

If your species is not listed, the requirements for that species are not known. Exporters who want to ship livestock or germplasm whose requirements are not listed above should have the importer or buyer in the destination country apply for an import permit at the appropriate ministry. This import permit will most likely outline the specific requirements.

Looking for the legal things @caryl talked abt i found this: So, according to World Pet Travel, any pet entering Nicaragua MUST have an import permit. This should be acquired before pet arrives in the country. This rule applies to every single animal entering the country.

I have since found that there is a government licensed reptile/amphibian breeder & exporter out of Managua by the name of Exotic Fauna, you may try looking them up and contacting them as they could possibly point you in the right direction.

Excellent sleuthing, @noodlehaus !

Not sure how helpful it’ll end up being, but an exporter with a government license will know more than most folks here, I’d say. :joy: We do our best, but I do not envy the import/export folks.
