Intro and Question

Hello everyone. I am new to the snake world, and have been a little obsessed for the last few weeks doing as much reading as possible. I am just trying to educate myself on everything I can, and I am realizing I am quickly going down a rabbit hole I will probably never get out of now.

I purchased a Chocolate Banana Enchi Pos Hypo, and I cant wait to watch this thing grow up. Now I want a second one, and I can quickly see where this is headed.

I was able to see a few babies at a local reptile store, and they have a pastel one I liked. I am curious if anyone can identify it. The lady there was really nice, but she did not know, other than the obvious, that it was pastel. I have been trying to compare based on the pattern, but I am not sure. I do not know enough to be sure. Fire maybe because of the fade or blushing?? Ghost? Butter? I was hoping to get some help. I am thinking about getting it as well.

Thank you very much in advance!

Here is my new Banana!

Holy cow that banana is gorgeous! At least to me! The new one you are looking at is lovely as well but unfortunately I am no good at morphs. All I can say is welcome to community and welcome to the (BP) club! :joy:

Welcome to the community! Your first snake is beautiful. And most of us in the forum have found the same “problem” as you…you can’t have just one!
I am absolutely of no help in identifying the morphs of the snake you’re interested in buying, but it is also so pretty. Somebody else here will be able to identify for you. Congratulations on your first snake!

Hahahahahahahaha! In a few months you’ll have to show us pics of your new rack system.
I think maybe butter(?) for the first pic.

LOL, Don’t judge, I have actually looked. I am already trying to figure out what female to pair the Banana too.

Butter might be right, Thank you!

I’m not judging. At all. Wanna see my rack(s)? Lol. My first ball was also a banana. Then od yb calico. Then a lemonblast. Then a blkel. And so…now have 9 balls. And bloods(7) and dumerils boas(2)and an atb and a gtp and whitelips (4). No judgement here.

First pic is the day he came home. Second pic is 2 yrs later.

It’s so easy to get hooked and even easier to wind up with 18 ball pythons before you know it , like me. LOL

That first snake looks to be a pastel lesser/butter.
I have a female that looks almost identical.

Is that a calico banana? I love the look of it!

The problem here is the wife, she doesn’t even want the first one in the house.

We are currently turning the garage into a man cave with gym and the snake is going to live in there for now.

It is going to be a challenge to grow the collection and stay married at the same time. However I am up for the challenge. The kids are all on board.

He’s a black pastel banana het pied. And the first pic is not his baby pic. I fat fingered it, sorry.
I may be the wrong person to ask advice on convincing spouses (or parents) to allow getting more snakes. Just ask @scaledcanvas or @armiyana Sneaking them in may be a bad idea. According to some.lol. If the kids are on board, your’re almost there.
However, breeding is a great way to get more. It’s not sneaky at all. They did it themselves.Processing: IMG_20230420_141640674.jpg…

Life is to short to just have one BP. They are like Pringle’s tater chips, if you can eat just one, we can’t be friends, lol!!! You began your collection with a beauty, best advice I can give you is not to buy on a whim, do your homework before the wallet comes out. I also highly prefer buying direct from a breeder than from a pet shop, especially from any of the chain stores. The history is usually unknown or not even close to being accurate . You can avoid this by buying from the breeder either from a local one, buying on MM and having it shipped or my favorite is getting them at a local show where I can see what I’m buying in person and speak to the breeder and asking the right questions. Keep us posted as your collection grows.
