Is it ok to feed nocturnals/crepusculars with a low light on?

I sometimes use a flashlight in the dark to see what I’m doing but it gets really cumbersome. Since he’s a fat tail wouldn’t he be used to seeing a little light at the start of his “day”.

I feed my leopard geckos with the lights on. It’s never been an issue for them. Sometimes when they’re shy young babies though you might need to leave some mealies in a dish for them to find when they’re not trying to hide from the big hyooman

A majority of the species I keep are nocturnal and they aren’t deterred by light during feeding. The only exception I make is for hatchling Ball Pythons that are a bit shy to eat so I leave them with their food in the dark and just keep my phone light handy to monitor them.

Yup! But sometimes I throw in a few small crickets and the tiny little ones go on a hunting spree!

I think my guy must be an old timer. He gets pretty cranky sometimes

But for never being handled before he is doing pretty good

I typically feed at night/after dark and it doesn’t seem to bother any of my reps if I turn a light on.
If I go into my room after lights out and I turn a light on for whatever reason I have multiple faces staring at me after @ 5 minutes. Just going in for a minute or two will usually bring a couple to see what’s up but if I leave the light on for any length of time it looks like a lineup. That is in my mostly python room.
My gecko isn’t much different, though he’s in the living room. He appears mouth open. Especially during the pre feed rain. It started @3 days after I got him. I am always amazed that a 2 inch long lizard begs for bugs from a 200+ lb human. Then attempts to kill my hand when I open to replace his water/baby food.
Once your lizard associates the light coming on with chow it will probably run out and expect food.

I wish mine got excited when he sees light. He just kind of tilts his head up and squints and slinks back into the cave

Your post made me laugh though thanks.
