idrk how to tell if my crestie is a boy or a girl, can anybody tell me how to check?
Mind sharing a photo of your Crestie?
You may be able to tell upon a quick look if they are old enough- the males will have an obvious hemipene bulge and the females will not, otherwise you’ll need to look and see if they have femoral pores. In younger/smaller individuals it can be a bit tricky to find them though without some sort of magnifying assistance.
Heres some old photos I had to dig up that I did for sexing Crested Geckos when I used to breed them, it shows you exactly what you’ll be looking for.
how many grams should they be to tell?
I believe it was around the 20-30 gram mark when my boys developed, but some can develop earlier or later- its not entirely set in stone.
mine is almost 9 grams…
Yeah you’ll have to look for pores then, yours is still quite young.
also, my crested gecko has been seeming too calm lately, idk if anythings wrong, since hes been eating regularely. but i havent noticed any poops at all- i havent put isopods in his tank, since im still looking for poop, is something wrong?
Do you mind sharing a photo of your CG? Any signs of constipation/impaction I can think of is either swelling of the belly, or appetite loss and weight loss as a consequence.
They may also have hard lumps in the belly but its unreliable to judge from that without other symptoms as that may just be waste passing through the digestive system normally, or it may be eggs in an adult female, it could also just be their ribs…
@autumngeckos @ghoulishcresties may have more insight than I do about it.
well, i can try, was just holding him for a little bit, then he got kinda annoyed
well, im not goiing to put a camera in his face, as he is shedding for the first time, and i’d like to give him space
also, i haven’t noticed any hard lumps on his belly
Get us some pictures x
