Is my snake going blind?

Just noticed this eye on one of my new hognose babies, any ideas on if this is a sign of permanent blindness in the future? The other eye is clear and normal

More/clearer photos with better lighting would help, but it does look like it could be the start of a cataract. Does it look like that in all lighting?

yes looks like a cloudy spot right in the center, i gave her a few soaks thinking maybe it was stuck shed at first but nothing has changed. I was thinking cataracts as well but was still hoping for the best and wanted other opinions before i deem her unsafe to breed in the future!

Then with that info I’d definitely lean toward it being a cataract, a vet could confirm. I’m guessing she’s still young, so it’s possible it is genetic or an injury when quite young. Was she purchased from a breeder or a pet store? If it was a breeder, I’d contact them and ask if they noticed the eye issue.

Happy to help. Honestly this is one of those things that can pop up now and again. She likely doesn’t have the best sight in that eye, but if her other one is fine, she should do well in the long run. Hard to say if it was genetic or somehow environmental.
