Is there a morph or morph combo where the head stripe connects at the back of the head like this?
I picked her up at an expo and she was labeled fire het dg het clown. I just suspected that there might be somthing more. She has yellow splotching on her belly, especially in the lower 3rd. It doesn’t show up well in photos.
This is my first post, so I hope I am doing it right.
Without knowing the pairing it’s pretty much a stab in the dark. There could possibly be a gene like spectre from the YB complex with a lower expression.
But eye stripes are also something that can be polymorphic as well. Polymorphic traits are line bred and not something you can test for. Basically just two snakes with long eye stripes happened to have a baby with connected eye stripes sort of thing.
Orange dream has this effect really well when paired with a lot of morphs. It’s nice to see someone interested in parts of the snake not many care for (enchi and leopard have great eybands as well).
Here is one of my male orange dream, pastel, Desert Ghosts(he’s in deep shed here so I apologize)⅞ that I think has the effect you are searching for. If I can help more lmk .
Thank you. He is beautiful. I forgot to ask about the pairing as my husband was waiting in the car for me at that point. I did reach out to the breeder, but he didn’t respond
@armiyana is great at ball python ID-ing, and when she mentioned yellowbelly complex, I dug up this photo of my Enchi Highway (Enchi Yellowbelly Gravel). She has the connected eye stripes…
Pretty snake you have!
Awww, thank you ;u;
Though @adamvec also did mention a couple genes that do the same including the enchi. That will definitely enhance it in your baby’s combo.
My guess was basted mostly on this snake being labeled as fire. YB complex can be notoriously frustrating because the expression can vary so much in intensity.
It could be that there’s actually OD in there, but without knowing the pairing info, I would lean towards a YB complex gene hidden in the pairing vs OD being missed.
Although looking again from a different screen, testing for OD and YB may not be a bad idea.
