Is this behavior normal?

Hello, my leopard gecko keeps poking his tongue out even though i just fed him yesterday and he got enough water. Is my gecko sick? Should i go to the vets?

Geckos, much like many reptiles, will use their tongues to smell/sense their surroundings. Perfectly normal behavior, but I’ll see if @armiyana or @mblaney might see something I don’t.

Just looks like a curious little guy to me.

Especially when they are introduced to a new surface, they will use their tongues to figure out what it is.

Although on a side note. Seeing this video makes me realize I mis-IDed this gecko for you. I believe he’s actually a super snow albino. Not a stripe like I thought from the other images of him.

Okay thank you! And this one is different from the last one you IDed so you’re probably right about it  The one in the video, the breeder said he is a tug snow tremper

I kind of think of reptiles as toddlers without hands. They are very mouth-oriented in their approach to exploring the world.

Your curious little guy is adorable.
