And if you want to post belly pics (tail half) I can comment on if they look het pied which I actually do have a lot of experience picking.
Just my 2 cents, I am not seeing anything pointing to pied, and I am not up on tristrip to say the alien heads marks are proof. The tail marking on my normal look like yours. And I know there is noting else in mine. To me they just look like normals. The only True way is to prove them out or DNA. Maybe something with a lot more experience in them might see something. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.
I agree with @d_y_python on both points. Those snakes do not have the “definitive” pied tracks. I snapped a quick pic of a het pied I produced this season so you can see, but it just looks like someone took a sharpie down both sides of the lower 1/4 of the belly. Also agree, only dna or breeding will be accurate. You may be right about the tri stripe-alien head stretched eye het markers. I don’t have any experience with tri stripes unfortunately, but I did see you mention it was also het for hypo and that can sometimes leave an influence on the snake as well. Good luck keep us updated on your results!
Yeah, I have a 100% het Pied male and hes got the same tracks, nice and solid.
Wrong on both counts! My first car was a stick, and I was raised with TNG, so I got the reference.
Awesome!
I agree on the poss dh tri-stripe pied not having good pied markers. But maybe worth sending the female’s shed in for testing as the markers aren’t always seen in het pieds and for all I know tri-stripe might interfere. I’ve got some that I think are het monsoon that tested het pied even though they don’t look it.
Yes, my male is rather dark for a het hypo but I trust his source. I’ve also had pretty good luck picking het hypos as the lightest ones in the clutch.
Will be awesome when we get more genetic testing to take all the guesswork out. I do see some visors in the pictures of at least one of those but it’s still a guess. If you like them and have room I would hang on and maybe a tri-stripe test will come out or eventually you can try breeding them. Could probably upgrade the male to a for sure dh down the road without a lot of expense. It’s the time to grow the female up that sucks.
Here are the best pictures I could manage of the two squirmy possible possible het monsoon boys that tested het pied. I believe they look het monsoon and knowing they are het pied I can kind of see it but not the best het pied markers for sure. Hoping it’s because het monsoon interferes and they are het monsoon. They are also both 50% chance het hypo. Obviously I love the possible hets most keepers hate.
I would say they are very clear het Pied markers.
The first one more so but still some breaks. Interestingly the second one where I’m not really seeing het pied much at all has the better het monsoon pattern.
Lol , I could. I like JDM cars so I had to learn for fun.
Here are some pos het pied girls from other projects that I thought had good enough markers to not bother testing.
Those all look like great markers! Even the het monsoons have decent if somewhat broken ones. Just remember these are just markers, no absolutes with poss hets. It’s a great clue, but we have all seen normals with the tracks for pied and poss het pieds that didn’t prove out
I did have a pet store girl with good markers not prove het pied once. Not sure how many pos and pos pos holdbacks I’ve picked based on the marker and proven, maybe a dozen or so.
I’d try to prove them. I have a pair of boas with 1 being a Leopard the other being 66het. If you like tri Stripes, worst case you can get a visual pied and a Tri to breed them too or something either after the first attempt or now so you know you have some holdbacks with the right genes?
Idk, I’m only just getting into BPs so maybe I’m off lol, that’s just what my head goes to and I’m curious what others would do.
I think most of us have gone for a poss het or two, thinking they have a good shot at proving out by their markers. A educated guess is better then just a guess, right! I really hope they prove for ya! Keep us updated on your results, or decisions!
Well since i am just a poor lady, i bought a male visual tristripe. I really love the tristripe mojave. So i paired him to my mojave het pied female and kept the entire clutch. Is it going to be expensive yep, is it going to be worth it yep!! I just made female hets in something i love. I could get lucky and hit a pied tristripe but thats just a bonus. I want a female mojave tristripe and another male visual tristripe to replace his dad
I would absolutely no way waste my time with possible hets. Get at least 1 visual then you know the babies are het
