I would like to see an ability to label customer messages within Messenger. For instance, using a labels like “To Ship,” “Awaiting Payment,” etc, to mark progress of a sale. These could be labeled similar to gMail and other services.

This is not exactly what you are asking, which I have created a ticket for, but just to be sure you are aware of User Groups which you will likely find use for.
