Laws, legislation, and selling by location

I was aware it was a difficult/lengthy process, and I found one breeder’s site with the info that I was referencing here. They’re located in CO, so likely the same breeder you’re thinking of.

Yeah, I’d assume it’s not worth it for most people, especially if they’re looking to keep as pets, to get one. I took a look at the forms and it doesn’t seem to be the best time. I just wanted to make a note more of the fact that you also need a license if you want to purchase one. Most places don’t have that particular rule and only require it of the breeder themself.

Ive read what i think are the the laws in Wisconsin (different sites are saying different things and the dnr site just confuses me today) but im having difficulties understanding them (brain fog). I am considering getting a male hognose as a pet but want to make sure its legal first. Does anyone know? I think it says Western hognose is illegal but Eastern hognose is ok?

Eastern Hognoses (Heterodon platirhinos) are actually the native snake in Wisconsin, not Plains/Western Hognoses.

I will say this: if you purchase a snake of any kind from out of state (either in person or via a platform like MorphMarket), you will require an import permit and a certificate of veterinary inspection for that animal.
