My Butter Stripe boy is faded now, for sure. He’s blue tight now so he’s even more muted but I’ll get an updated pic when he sheds. He’s radiated l related to yours, Jen. His dam was the grandmother of Xanthic Snow Stripe het Hypo you got from me.
I hadn’t really thought about it, but I do have some Stripes who stay distinct. Most fade, some fade extremely, but the Caramel Ghost Stripes I’ve still got keep their markings.
Interesting. Caramel ghosts don’t fade in their markings? I’m curious to see if that remains true over the variants in other breeders’ collections.
I don’t know if true largely, but it’s true for Odin and Bragi. It’s really very odd now that I think about it. My regular Anery Stripes certainly fade. Fortunato began life as a Cube in 2023. He was very distinctly marked as are most Anery Stripes. Now he’s a lovely silvery shade with a few rosy, bronzish and other tints but scarcely any markings visible at all. Odin, on the other hand is a senior citizen with much more visible markings. It’s odd. I’ll try and get pics of this week. Or at least find some. Lol
All right, Odin and his son Bragi both shed conveniently. They’re both Caramel Ghost Stripe het Amel, Halo. Odin’s now 15. These first images were taken this week. His markings fade about halfway down, but they always did.
This is Odin in 2022. His eyes have some cataracts now , but otherwise he looks pretty much the same. If only I had aged so well! 
Bragi, who is a 4yo. He’s always been a tad darker than his dad. The first pics are baby Bragi. You can see that his markings haven’t changed much. The pics which look lighter were when the blazing sun came out from behind a cloud.
Here’s another Caramel Ghost Stripe I produced. Baldr is another son of Odin. He was 4yo in these pics. He was sold after he proved not to be het Amel. Baldr was always a lighter color, but even as a lighter individual, he still kept his stripes. (I’ve got a 2025 granddaughter of his who is just as light and lovely.)
They all have kept their stripes rather than fading like most Stripes do. I hadn’t really thought about it until it was mentioned here. It’s curious. By contrast, here’s a 3yo Anery Cube, Fortunato. His coloring is still cool, but his markings are all but invisible now.

This is such a fascinating phenomenon. I’ll pay attention from now on to see if it holds true generally.

Every so often the coding goes a little wonky, and it seems the new update is a little touchy about spacing. I’m more than happy to do a quick fix!

Interesting about the striped patterns, I will have to get new pics of the adult ones I have. The markings are visible but considerably faded on two of them. The third was already low expression dappled but now is like a vanishing stripe….
I don’t think I ever posted pictures of these babies but these are motleys from the other test clutch I did… the original leopard motley girl with a nice halo snow het sk motley and hypo. I didn’t get any patterns that looked leopard but they are still nice babies. I am crawling with even nicer babies and I have second clutches incoming so I am auctioning the entire clutch of 14… I did get them all started , sexed and eating f/t. This clutch has eliminated sunkissed as a possibility for the dappled stripes.

Lovely little ones, Jen! I sympathize with the “crawling with babies” feeling. I’m not too buried this year but I certainly have had seasons where it felt like all I did was baby chores. Seems like babies of every species take much longer to deal with than more mature versions.
Yes they were very pink. The sire is a salmon as well. I think I could have easily sold the ghosts but there were 8 just anery in the clutch.. then I thought of auctioning off the anerys but I have a bunch of heliconia a bunch of stripes… more heliconia from the second clutch about to pip and second clutches from 2 others, as well as a smaller first clutch. Let someone else make money off them and feed them. I looked at my stock of small pinkies and I don’t want to reorder just yet.. that auction will hopefully help with that! That’s a lot of males and a lot of anery’s..
It’s not so much that it feels like a chore.. I just like to get to know them as individuals, keep them a bit, see how they change. I try not to go over 100 babies and it looked like it was going to happen. Once it feels like an assembly line but you want them all to be comfortable and thrive.. these new stripes, the dappled guys, are like a bunch of frat boys they destroy the deli habitat by the time it’s time to feed them again. Furniture in the swimming pool lol.
Me too, me too! It’s a labor of love, but I do try and hang onto the love part of that statement, too. I also want time to get to know them. That’s really important to me.
