Just mist the sides a couple of times a week and she will be fine!

When things are this dry, misting just becomes an exercise in futility. Adding a little water to the substrate tends to work better for me in these conditions. Adding a little moss to the corners I wet down makes it even more effective…but Dory apparently cares more about having the perfect curtains than dying of dessication. I guess we all have priorities. :joy:

I forget you are in a dry area. I say if they are having successful molts, your humidity is just fine. My moss seems to dry out too fast….

A couple of new Tarantula Cribs. In one of them is my Pumpkin Patch and in the other one is my H Gigas Cameroon Red Baboon.

Does anyone know what this little guy is? I didn’t label this one! :weary:

Yeah, we literally had 6% humidity the other day. I caught my golden knee actually trying to fit herself inside her water bowl.

Fortunately we got some rain over the weekend, so things aren’t quite so bad right now.

Hrmm. Kinda looks like it could be Aphonopelma chalcodes (Arizona blonde), or maybe something else in that same genus? For sure New World terrestrial.

I’m honestly pretty unconfident in identifying juveniles, but that’s my best guess.

I don’t think that’s what it is because I have had this one for maybe a year now? I know I bought what was supposed to be a rose hair or a Chilean rose hair? at the last expo I went to.

Yeah, sorry, besides being pretty sure that it’s a New World terrestrial, I can’t really say at this age. Body shape looks like it could be a genus like Aphonopelma, Brachypelma, Grammostola, or maybe Tlitocatl…but that’s about as much as I can narrow it down.

You might try asking on CB. There’s a fair number of spider people who are active there, someone might be able to help.

Thanks Jennifer! I never thought about trying CB but I am always sending others over there!

It really doesn’t matter what kind of T/spider it is anyway because it’s actually a perfect little beast with a plump little bum!

My hermit crabs have been buried pretty much since i got them (December 9th) and one of them finally decided to make an appearance!!! I can’t wait for the other one to come back up so i can upgrade their enclosure!

At my house we have each shell named after a different clothing article and its how we update each other on which shell Kirby is in at the moment - ‘oh the boy chose a ballgown today, fancy!’ ‘MOOOM the boy is naked and changing into his khakis!’ :joy: :joy: :joy:

Here’s Dory the P. reduncus after making quick work of two crickets. She came out from behind her cork to give me a happy dance. With and without a flash (sadly she’s webbed and pooped all over the front of her enclosure :person_facepalming:).

I must say, I’m really enjoying keeping this species, even though she’s scary fast and has a bit of an attitude. She changes colour every molt, she’s always out and visible, she has an awesome feeding response, and is just a really fun spider to observe.
