Lily White Pairing

I have two lily whites growing up so I was wondering what is best to pair them to?
Can I use a yellow hypo (basically looks white)? Can I use something that is white wall/ high white?
Or just a dark base harlequin?
Or should I be using a tricolor or bicolor?
Thank you

Depends entirely on what you’re looking to get out of the pairings, as well as what other traits they have besides LW

Completely depends on your projects and goals!

Any of those would work well :black_heart:

I guess I am looking for high white or just beautiful lilies. I had heard pairing a high white with a lily could be bad? So i wanted to debunk that?
One of my lilies is a tricolor and the other is more plain brown on the side.

Do you have any photos? Lillies can be paired with pm anything except other lillies, so yeah if you want high white, go for a high white. But it’s also a good idea to consider whether they’re worth breeding, if they’re really far from the project you want, it might be better to sell them and find some that are a better fit. It’s important to consider what projects you might want to work on before breeding, don’t breed an animal just because you have it

I have been breeding two years now and i buy high quality geckos and ask advice from other breeders. Im breeding to get the best quality animals. And thats why I’m asking this question because without just testing it myself I don’t know what the offspring will look like so I was hoping someone else would have the experience to give me advice on pairing. Two years in I am still learning genetics and lineage and i think thats fair because I try to educate myself. I want to breed for lilies and would like to know what other people breed their lilies to.

It wasn’t meant as an insult, i meant to consider your goals before breeding a specific animal, as not all animals will fit all projects, and it makes no sense to breed an animal, even a high quality one, if it’s not something you’re actually interested in. I have several high quality pinstripes that im looking to find new homes sometime in the future since Ive realised that im not into breeding for pins after all, projects change, it’s all part of breeding.

My best advice to anyone, new or old, is to breed for projects that you are genuinely interested in, rather than to breed something just cause you have it. Ive seen a lot of breeders, even people who’ve been breeding for a while, pair two geckos because those were the ones they had available. Pairing two high quality animals, does not necessarily make the pairing high quality, just as pairing two low-quality animals does not necessarily make the pairing low quality. It’s all about the end goal. As an example, if you want high white LWs, but the ones you have currently have a trait like empty-back, that’s likely not gonna be a good fit for such a project, as empty back reduces the pattern. Another example is if you want reds, it also wouldn’t make much sense to start out with a muddy yellow. Just to give some examples. Crested geckos are polygenic, so a LW is so much more than just a LW. What you’ll get out of pairing your LW to i.e. a yellow hypo will depend on what else that LW is carrying, and what else that yellow hypo is carrying. If you’re interested in the genetics, go check out Foundation Genetics on LMReptiles’ webpage, and get an idea of what else your geckos are carrying :+1:

Lilly to Lilly is a no go. Fatal pairing.

Personally I’d go for an extreme Harley or tricolour to get more coverage Lillie’s.
