I’ve been curious about the mack snow gene, considering that it is a recessive gene, can you still line breed it theoretically in the same manner as a black night. As the black night lineage started decades ago, I can do the same thing with snows by selective breeding the darkest super snows in the clutch, until I achieve a similar melanistic intensity?
Mack snow isn’t recessive. It’s an incomplete dominant.
You can still leave me breed for the darker coloration though. The snow gene does affect pattern to some extent, but that shouldn’t be an issue to work more melanin. Some breeders already have been doing that.
