Just make sure that you’re really sterilizing and making sure that there’s no pest that could ever be present on the wood. You have to understand that’s why there’s a lot of laws around this. There’s huge agricultural implications if pests get spread around. So all I’m saying is be safe and make sure that you’re actually sterilizing your products because the responsibility and accountability falls on you when you’re the seller.

Also, make sure that you’re selling driftwood if you’re going to label it as driftwood. Do not label sticks that are dried as Driftwood. There is a difference. Artist and DIY people will definitely let you know that.

I do my best, both with being careful about what wood I pick up and use, and with how I clean it. I’m not sure what could survive half an hour in an oven, but as far as the actual driftwood, I only take stuff I find by river/creeks, so I feel like that would count, but idk

First let me say that I would never lie to any customers of mine but by definition, driftwood is wood that has been transported by the water onto a shore. Wood could have traveled 10 miles over a period of months or it could have traveled 1/2 of a mile in a couple of days. There is going to be a difference in how they appear but they are both still driftwood.

For example here are two pieces that were sitting right next to each other. Both are still driftwood though.

In person there is also a color difference that the camera wouldn’t pick up

I tend to be pretty picky about what I grab. I also haven’t been able to go back to my usual collecting place for while (I love it, it has alll the good stuff.) But I mostly prefer stuff that is missing all of its bark, or most of it, and I just pick or scrape off the rest.

That is pretty much my exact process of picking my wood

Gotta love the clean stuff :joy:

Though I surprise myself with how little of my driftwood I’ve actually used for myself. I’ve prepped like 25-30 pieces, and have used a grand total of 3.

Yayyyy!!! Im 14 and I’ve been looking for somewhere to buy plants for my leopard geckos enclosure. I have it right now as 1/2 the tank has a green grass looking matt that my mom bought because she wouldn’t let me do all dirt (straight soil no added anything it’s safe for the tank) and half dirt (there’s plants too its a little vivarium corner) and a hide. He really really loves to dig and I would like to make the tank a full vivarium and give him more space to dig because he only had a small area right now. I’m working on getting a 75-100 gallon long tank. I have a 55 gallon right now and he loves to explore and hunt so I want him to have lots of places to explore and climb and hunt and dig and I just want the very best for my little guy! He was a gift from my boyfriend and his name is Henry. Sorry for the big rant I just don’t have anywhere/anyone else to chat about it with! Also, what plants should I have in the vivarium or which ones would anyone suggest, I just have jade, some air plants up higher (I just like them!) and some purple queen/purple heart plants from my boyfriends garden. (The tank was put together kind of fast because he needed to be rehomed fast because of hurricane damage to the tank henry and his girlfriend fiona were in during while they were having mating time lol) Fiona is still with my boyfriend btw, they are apart from eachother exept for when it comes to baby time, but my boyfriend controls and does all of that stuff, he does it with fish too, i dont really know about it.

ma’am he has 3 hides, just saying that theres a hide in the dirt area, he uses it when he’s shedding because it stays humid under there.
