Looking to connect with Varanus spenceri breeders

Hello everyone,

My name is Iker and I’m a reptile keeper from Spain currently preparing a long-term breeding project focused on Varanus spenceri.

Rather than searching for animals immediately, my current priority is learning as much as possible from people who have genuine first-hand experience with this species.

I’m particularly interested in:

  • Current captive bloodlines

  • Seasonal cycling

  • Husbandry

  • Breeding experiences

  • International contacts

I’m only interested in legally produced captive-bred animals and responsible breeding projects.

I’m documenting everything I learn to build a long-term husbandry guide and future breeding project before ever acquiring the species.

I do not know if he works with that specific species, but Mike Stefani from Mike’s Monitors is an absolute wealth of information on a number of species so you might try reaching out to him. If he does not work with them he probably knows someone that does
