Hi there! I’ve lurked these forums for a bit and finally pulled the trigger on making an account!
My name is Dess, I’m an animal artist and hobbiest breeder from Oklahoma.
Genetics has always been an interest of mine.
Fresh out of high school I was breeding pet rats until I developed severe allergies to them.
More recently I bred meat rabbits for a while, but they take up a ton of space and eat/poop daily and as much as I enjoyed raising them, I needed a hobby that required less maintenance.
I had had ball pythons over a decade ago, but picking them up again made me remember how cool the morphs were- and then realized that so many more had been discovered during the time I was out of the loop!
Back then I LOVED ultramels, but only saw them pop up on occasion on Kingsnake and they were always far out of my price range.
They’re cheaper now and I’m paid more, so I can finally live my ultramel dreams!
I’d like to stay a small hobbiest and create art and products to sell at reptile expos in addition to any animals I create.
(Just some examples- I want to do some reptiles next!)
I’ve been pairing my BEL girl with my banana butter boy in hopes of producing my first clutch- I’d like to get some experience under my belt before I invest in more pricey projects.
I’ve confirmed multiple locks, she’s been bowl-wrapping the past few weeks and is now staying on the heat, curled up and looking possibly chunkier than before.
Fingers crossed! I’ve got a few more things to buy before I can test-run this homemade incubator but worst comes to worst, I can cough up the money for a manufactured one in a pinch.
Wish me luck!
