Merulanella ‘Ember Bee’ 😊

When I first saw pictures of the Ember Bees online, I instantly knew I wanted some, after I had gained enough experience to have a good chance of them thriving, given their price tag.

At long last, my Ember Bees appear to be doing well! My originals bred, and I successfully raised the mancae (sp?) to adulthood! At this point, I have 3 Ember Bee colonies (1 of which are ‘Red Ember Bees’) that seem to be slowly increasing in production. In a few weeks I have more Ember Bees coming from an additional source, in an effort to strengthen the gene pool.

And, finally, I took a pretty good picture of one of them! I also found one of the juveniles on the water crystals I added as an experiment, though I’m not sure if it was actually consuming any.

Wow, those are gorgeous! :star_struck:

What genus? Looks like maybe Cubaris, but I’m still not great at identifying isopods.

Thank you everyone, that’s very nice of y’all! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Insofar as I know, the genus is ‘Merulanella,’ but since isopod taxonomy often undergoes revisions, I might be wrong.
