My 2024 Breeding Pairs!

Fingers crossed! They say “good eggs don’t go bad.”

Ill probably repeat this paring again next year so hopefully this issue doesnt reapeat again next year. But it definitely seems like it shouldn’t be long for the good eggs to pip now! And im also curious to see if they’ll inherit the faint black lines from magmar.

I dont see them on many diffused corns anymore so it would be a nice touch! But this clutch should be full of blood pieds and granite pied and if ember proves for hypo that will be in there too! So hopefully it wont be long until they pip now!

I love those dirty melanin stripes. You don’t see them much anymore—a casualty of usually breeding for brighter.

Day 59 now! Hopefully there should be pippies soon!

Day 66 is my prediction. But I’m never right about this.

Im guessing it must be that batnam clutch! Hopefully they pip for you soon!

Day 63 now but still no pips unfortunately. These babys sure do want to keep me waiting. Im still seeing 7 healthy eggs so hopefully they decide to pip out soon!

The clutch I was waiting on just started pipping today on Day 68. Room temp incubation, 79-81F most of the time.

So soon!

Mine have been at a constant 82F so it should definitely be very soon then!

Soon. I just got a pippy yesterday from a (tiny) clutch at Day 65, ambient temps 82-85. You shouldn’t have much longer to wait.

My current clutch is at day 65 with no sign of pipping soon! But yours are warmer than mine, so I bet it will be very soon.

I decided to do one last check before they pip and so I could wipe some mold off the bad eggs too.

The overall clutch doesnt look great but there are still 7 white eggs that look hopeful in there! Alough it is unfortunate about the others

I may be worrying about nothing but a few of the eggs have these “green” areas where they are connected to the bad eggs and some of them have no veins now. Im still rather new to this so im still learning. But this late into incubation there isnt really much I can do besides wait. But I can still see the shadows of all the babies inside!

Sometimes they turn greenish and lose their veins right before hatching. Your good eggs still look good to me.

So I guess I was worried over nothing then. Thanks for the help!

Yep. I just had a healthy baby hatch out of an egg whose veins were disappearing when last candled. I do find it worrying because I’m a worrywart, but when hatching is imminent it’s not necessarily an indication of trouble.

That sure is a relief then, thanks! Today is also day 65 now but I did also realise that a few of them are sweating now. Is that also normal this late into incubation?

It can be, yes. The shells thin quite a bit near hatching. Sometimes within a day or so of pipping, you’ll see a small bit of moisture as the babies are moving around now inside and basically forcing it out. If humidity is the same as before, I’d take that as a sign that you’ll see noses soon.
