I’m new here 
and wanted to share a bioactive tank I’ve been working on the past 2 years - 36” x 18” x 36” viv for a crested gecko pair.
The background is purple foam board — carved and coated in drylock. I made a huge section in the corner and carved it to mimic a tree. It has planting cups embedded for ferns.
The plants are a bit overgrown but I can tell the geckos like it cause they roll themselves up and sleep in the oversized leaves. I have automatic misters that keep the humidity up and keep the tank low maintenance.
I’ve got a cleaning crew in there but wow, these geckos poop! I have to spray the tank down once a week to get poop off of walls and plants, then I drain all the water from the tank. Keeps it smelling fresh and clean. Every 6 months, I change out the top layer of substrate.
