Hello, I was wondering if anyone out there could tell me what might be going on with my crested gecko, in the images above you can see that the colors on my gecko is two very different colors the one where he is purple is his fired down stage and the one with the oranges and browns are when he is fired up is this a morph and also this is not because of lighting I have taken him into natural light and he has been the same color if you know anything that could be going on to him that would be great. Also I am not worried about him I am excited because I have never seen anything like this
I believe this is a Tiger Brindle Harlequin with Lavender, these are Traits not necessarily Morphs. Its just the fired up & fired down changes you are observing. If you want to see him fully fired up you can either give him some UVB lighting and watch him sit under it for a little bit or hold him up to natural sunlight by a window.
@autumngeckos, @ghoulishcresties correct me if I’m wrong- I still feel rusty on CG traits ![]()
He is a dashpin brindle you can’t see the dashpin because the photos don’t show it, the thing that I was wondering is that if he was a lavender when he fires up he should be darker purple instead of rustic orange correct? So I was wondering how this is happening.
He’s a brindlequin dalmatian, which is basically a harlequin with tigering - usually yellow-based, like him, but can be any basecolour. Dalmatian is self-explanatory.
Crested geckos can fire at different stages, so it’s not just fired up vs fired down. They also change colour as they grow, and yellows sometimes fade into what appears to be lavender. This guy is not a lavender, but a faded yellow ![]()
Thanks that helps a lot.
