Hi y’all! I am so excited that I have added a reticulated python to my collection. I was looking for a big snake I can eventually use for education, and ocelot is my absolute favorite reticulated python morph. I never thought I could afford one but an amazing breeder hatched a pet-only male ocelot retic with some weird fused scales on his head and was kind enough to reach out and ask if I wanted to provide him a pet-only home. I did in fact, so everyone meet Sully! He is already incredibly chill and I’m working on handling and hook training regularly.
That’s a handsome beast!
Awwww, he’s adorable. I love that pattern.
Makes my little dude look even smaller. Lol
I was not familiar with ocelot retics before but boy I am now. Gorgeous little guy. Those eyelets are stunning. Welcome to the party, Sully!
I love those eyes on him
Oh my gosh, I love Sully!!!
Congratulations, he’s absolutely gorgeous. Can’t wait to see more of him as he grows!
Definitely keep us updated~
Iirc Ocelots change color quite a bit as they grow.
I … Need to get more photos of my new boy because if I am lucky he’s going to change dramatically after a year
Wait, did you get a new retic, besides the SD albino pair you already had?
I am so glad to have him. Ocelots are gorgeous as they grow and I never once thought I’d be able to afford one. I’m super thankful to the breeder and so looking forward to watching him grow and working with him.
Please tons of pictures!!!’ He is so gorgeous!!! I love him!!
I’ll take a ton more as he grows! Here’s one of his dad. I can’t wait to see how he develops. Picture credit to A&B Exotics.
I did! Just last month I picked up another SD pair. A ‘normal’ hatchling male and yearling anery female. The difference in behavior is so refreshing. Hoping the male especially stays as outgoing and friendly as he is already. The female is very attentive but sweet nature’s so far.
Omg dad is gorgeous!
I hope he works out really well for your educational work! Since he’s so young it shouldn’t be difficult. They’re such smart little guys.
Also, how large were the parents? Both mainland size? I could never with my back issues. @ _ @
My new two SD are definitely doing pretty good with handling.
My older SD pair I unfortunately don’t have a good area to work with them regularly, so they’re more on the looking pretty at home side of things.
That’s so awesome, congratulations to you too! It will be nice for you to be able to work with them when they’re still young. That really does seem to make a difference with temperament.
@inspirationexotics Dad is so gorgeous! I assume Sully is a full-sized “mainland,” yes?
Yes, he’s a full sized mainland! That’s why I plan to only have the one - to make sure I have the time and space to care for him properly. I’m not planning to power feed him though, so I’m hoping it’ll take him a good 7-8 years to reach the significantly larger sizes. If not, I’ll adapt. ![]()
I’ve been hook training/tap training him, and he’s only bitten me once and it was very much a “you startled me” bite, which I learned from and he’s gotten a lot more comfortable since then. I’m also debating target training him. But he’s remarkably handleable and I hope to keep him that way.
My bucket list wish but will never have animal! Absolutely magnificent!!!
Absolutely stunning and from a wonderful breeder who truly cares for their animals!
