My First BP - Pastel Lesser het DG! (Questions for Genetics)

I’m new to BP genes, hope to get my confusion cleared out.
According to breeder, she is a pastel Lesser het 100% DG. But from her color and pattern there are more blushing and reduced pattern than normal pastel Lesser, as her yellow circle doesn’t have any black alien heads.

I know recessive won’t take any effect on pattern theoretically. But from her look, it does seem like a bit different. Just wondering if the one copy of recessive gene DG did anything to her color?

Reason being I saw a breeder in Youtube (Olympus Reptiles) posted his pastel lesser DG (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlMJfqot2GU), which is even more blushed out and pattern reduced than my girl, especially head is “scaleless” (attached picture)

I feel like mine is just in between pastel lesser and pastel lesser DG, where one copy of DG, though being het, clears out the aliean head and brighten her color. Does any one have any experience or theory to support this

Her Mom: Lesser HGW GHI
Her Dad: Pastel DG

Even between normal BPs, there’s a lot of variances in pattern or color. It can be known as polymorphic traits. Blushing or alien heads are part of this.

An example of this was when lesser originally was found as a gene. Butter and Lesser are now known to be the same gene, just 2 different origin lines. And for a little while, because of the polymorphic traits of the establishing animals you would be able to tell them apart. One line tended to be cleaner pattern without eyes in the circles for example. This quickly changed once they became a more common morph.
Now because they’ve become so outcrossed there’s really no way to tell them apart. And 2 lessers can be radically different based on polymorphic traits.

That said, you absolutely can have a little bit of desert Ghost het affecting the overall color, but it’s not something that can be guaranteed. Not every one of the ‘het markers’ you hear about is 100% accurate. But in this case it’s more likely as your animal is 100% het DG.

Oh That’s really helpful, now I understand better.

May I ask how will her color look like when aged? Will it still maintain a relative good contrast

Every snake is different, but most of the time they kinda brown out. The contrast should still be pretty high, but just not as bright.

You have a beautiful animal. I especially like that there aren’t hardly any eyes in the alien heads. Here are two pictures of my Pastel Lesser DG for comparison. First is a baby and the second is at about 1000 grams. She still has plenty of eyes in her alien head even though she is visual DG.

Oh, yours is truly gorgeous! I like the adult’s pattern, still keeps the contrast and yellowish color. Scaleless head is very amazing. May I ask how long does she take to grow this big? mine is 4 months around 200g.

There’s no scaleless head in that animal.
I think you’re confused between a reduced headstamp or pale colored head and the actual microscale and scaleless head genes.

oh, I may mistreat her head pattern as scaleless head…
I’m new to BP genetics, may i ask how to tell the difference

Typically they will have some odd shaped/sized or missing scales on the head.
Here’s a lesser scaleless head that’s currently on sale in the market. You can see the difference pretty well here.

Thank you for saying so. With regular feeding you can get a female up to about 1000 grams or more in two years.
