Our littlest baby. Was on the menu of a stray cat. He’s chill as **** So now we roommates. Think I’ll call him hypnotoad. Least til he can handle his own.
Cool! Do you know what species he is?
Many years ago I kept fire-bellied toads, and I found them to be wonderful little creatures! I loved it when they used to sing at night!
We have huge toads down in south Florida. He is a cutie, hopes it all works out
Appears to be a gulf coast toad which are pretty common around my parts.
@mblaney I’m actually considering getting some firebelly toads eventually, Setting them up in a nice bioactive
That would be sick. Very cool little guys to watch
My only beefs with firebellies are that they aren’t immune to their own toxin and can be sensitive to abrupt water temp changes. Some of the (retired) lab animals I worked with made it into their 20s!!
Seeing your adorable WC toadlet has reminded me how much fun anurans are! If I’m ever able to get one/some again, I’ll probably pick a species that requires less delicate maintenance and that is more terrestrial than firebellies.
How is your toadlet doing?
