He is almost three years old, very loyal and polite boy. When Fired up has very dark, almost black base, but fired down he is pale like death. Have no idea what he is. Parents are unknown.

It’s a tough ID without lineage… but from just a general look over he appears to be a dark base Harlequin. He is really pretty

Ty for your reply! While I was studying the information about morphs, I could not think that they could be in this color. All Harlequins I found had well… Basic harlequin-like color. Could you please send in this thread some photo-examples of them?

They can come in a wide variety of colors
I’ll share a few examples of some I had in the past with the first round of CG breeding I did. These are old photos so the quality is not as great.

Edit: Crested Geckos I believe also produce polymorphic offspring, meaning their offspring can come out in a variety of patterns and colors that wouldn’t match the parents, unless the parents carry recessive traits like the Axanthic trait.

Lavender and Dark base (the base color under the Gecko’s pattern) can look pretty similar when a Crested Gecko is fired up.
The difference I see is that Lavender base is very light, and has a Lavender hue (hence the trait name) when the Gecko is fired down. Fired up Lavender base Geckos, at least from what I’ve seen, also do not get as rich in tone as Dark base Geckos.
Dark base is more of a light brown/gray tone when the Gecko is fired down, sometimes its almost black when the Gecko is fired up.

Dark base harlequin, some lines tend to fade a lot as they age. With how light he is there could be some kind of hypo in there as well.
Afawk there’s only three genetic base colours, - dark, red, and yellow - anything else is either line bred or polymorphic.
Lavender is not a genetic base-colour, but rather a dark-base gecko with hypo, that shows shades of purple/blue. Some yellow-based geckos will also fade to lavender once they grow older.
Regarding cresties being polymorphic, they are, but it just means that there’s no fixed “normal”, all geckos carry at least a handful genes that affect the phenotype. The genes still act dominant, incomplete dominant, or recessive, or in rare cases epistatic. It doesn’t mean that their offsprings’ morphs will be completely unpredictable, just that it takes a bit more practice and time to figure out.
