When my girl came out this evening, I noticed she has a small wound on her head. Could anyone suggest what might have caused it? I wondered if it’s perhaps some stuck shed that’s taken some skin with it when she’s tried to remove it.
I’ve cleaned the area with a cotton swab and some sterile saline which she didn’t seem to mind.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated!
Yeah I’d say she got it either from something in her enclosure she scrapped it on or shedding, I’d switch her substrate to paper towel while it heals so it doesn’t become infected, you can Dab a tiny amount of original Neosporin or Polysporin onto the wound using a clean Q-tip just make sure the Neosporin or polysporin has: no pain relivers or pain relief in it sense that can have toxins) and wait for it to close and scab before putting this girl on dirt substrate, I’m sure there’s some other ways to help with the wound but that’s one that I know and I’ve used on reptiles and amphibians.

Mhm just make sure the Neosporin/polysporin has no pramoxine or benzocaine which are some kinds of pain relivers

She’s housed alone?
If she is with another gecko male (hopefully not xD) or female, that is the right size for a bite as well. That’s the sign they should be separated immediately.
Otherwise, I second everything that’s been said above. Just a tiny dab goes a long way
