Ok so i did a pairing to see if my male pied was enchi and now i know he isnt, but i got some crazy looking babies. The female i won on bsrauctions.com and was labled has just enchi. But she is probably one of the nicest enchi’s I’ve ever seen. So i kinda suspect she may have something else. I got her at 280 grams and has she aged she never browned out but she rather turned more golden and vibrant. So if anyone could help me maybe shine some light on this. Here are pics of the babies and the pairing also. The pairing was also 0.1 enchi x 1.0 pied. Pos enchi going by what the seller said. Its giving me trojan enchi vibes.
There was 2 who had a heart shape head stamps and are a bit diffrent then the rest and i dont think are enchi
Just in case someone thinks its mouth open for neurological problems or its star gazing. I snapped the pic right after he swallowed his first meal. I just realized how it looked and had to address it.
Enchi, fire-that’s why it has stayed so bright and also can account for the non Enchi looking headstamps in some of the babies!
Trojan is one of those fairly uncommon morphs I feel…
I think what may be more likely is Dad just has some polymorphic traits and that busy pattern is how a couple of the babies ended up so busy looking as well.
The only other way to know is breeding it out unless you know what other traits the breeders may have been working with in the parent’s pairings.
The male i got from someone i knew for a long time he said he bought him has a enchi pied which i had my doubts and well when i got him he was in very bad shape. He was so covered in mites it looked like dry beeding on him. So long story short i bought him to help this guy out before xmas so he could buy gifts for his daughter and it was 9 pm and when he brought him outside to me i opened the tub and thought it must be dry dusty bedding he had it in and when i got into my work truck under the light of the cab. I was horrified by the amount of mites he was covered in and also was only 400 grams and was told he was about 2 yrs old. Once i noticed it first thing i did was grabbed a water battle and heated it up on the dash because it was out of my cooler and i poured it in the tub so i could try to hydrate and drown some of the mites on my way home. Then called my son and told him to fill the tub up with warm water and dawn dish soup. When i got home i spent about 2 1/2 hrs pulling every single mite from his scales with tweezers and rubbing him down with ivermectin and dawn soup. Which is amazing to use for mites and is harmless for them by the way. The mites were actually red which mean they been feeding off him for a long time. Then after that i actually made up a tub of water and put him right into my incubator and set the temp at 90. I actually didn’t think he would make it. He was so lethargic. But he actually made a quick and full recovery and took his first rat pup i think it was day 4 being with us. When i say there was thousands of mites im not kidding. His white areas were pink or lighter red from the bites. So that male has a special spot in our collection and is a beast now. It amazing how resilient they are. I wish i took a photo of him covered in the mite but i dont. But i do have a photo of the tub from the next morning. I left it outside since it was winter and in the 20s. They were frozen in the tub. This was what he looked like after i put him through the mite removal. Sorry guess was a longer then short story lol
The only reason i thought trogan was because of where i gor her from. I figured she was probably wholesale and why she was put on bsr auction website and both the trojan gene and bsr are based out of the same state which is Florida and honestly i doubt they are trojan, but from what i seen from the research i have done. Some of the babies can almost pass off has trojan enchi. But the odd thing is the orange tones on the bellies of a few. They look like coco stains but they are not. I just feel there is something else and the 2 with the heart head stamps might be the single form of whatever it is. But this is all just a guess for now. Ill be hanging onto these 2 for sure and maybe 2 others just incase. My luck its nothing but my curiosity wont let it go lol
Also i forgot i also i did a side by side comparison to my other enchi dh ghost pied and i mean u can see how crazy good the non het enchi looks compared to the other. I just wish i had more info but i dont.
Thanks and hopefully some hypo pieds soon.
